40 Super Hot is the most-played entry in Amusnet's most-played family, and the numbers explain why it is not the upgrade the lobby presents it as.
Forty lines buys you nothing
Against the 20-line original:
| 20 Super Hot | 40 Super Hot | |
|---|---|---|
| Lines | 20 | 40 |
| RTP | 95.79% | 95.81% |
Double the paylines. Two hundredths of a percentage point of difference in return.
That is not a meaningful improvement — it is noise. What the extra twenty lines actually change is the shape of your session: more frequent wins, each proportionally smaller, because the same return is spread across twice as many chances. Your stake per spin also rises, since all forty lines are fixed and active.
The lobby positions higher-line versions as better games. They are the same game at the same price with a different rhythm. Choose on the rhythm you prefer, not on the number in the title.
The symbol set
Standard Super Hot construction: cherries, lemons, oranges, plums, grapes and watermelons at the low end, then bells, then stars and lucky sevens at the top.
Two symbols carry the game:
- The red seven is the wild, substituting for everything except the star
- The star is the scatter, paying from any position on the grid
That second point matters more on a 40-line game than it looks. With forty fixed lines active, the line structure already covers most of the grid — so the scatter's position-independence adds less than it does on Shining Crown's ten lines. The scatter here is a top-end payout mechanism rather than a hit-frequency mechanism.
Medium volatility, and where it comes from
Amusnet classifies this as medium, a step above the 20-line version's low-to-medium.
The reason is the fixed-line structure. Forty lines means a higher stake per spin, and the game's larger results come from sevens stacking across a grid where forty lines can all catch the same stack simultaneously. When that happens the result is proportionally large; between times, the game grinds.
What it doesn't have
No free spins. No multiplier ladder. No bonus buy. A Gamble feature and the Jackpot Cards progressive, and that is all.
Amusnet's classic catalogue is built on the premise that a fruit machine does not need a bonus round, and this is the family that proves the premise commercially.
Jackpot Cards
The four-level mystery progressive triggers at random. As everywhere in this catalogue, it is funded out of the 95.81% — a share of the quoted return is committed to a pot most players never take. See the provider page.
Who it suits
Someone who wants the most active version of the classic Amusnet fruit machine and does not mind a higher fixed stake for it. Forty lines produce constant small activity.
If you are optimising for value rather than rhythm, Shining Crown returns half a point more at a quarter of the line count.
